BBC 4.  20:00 - 20:30
In 1959 Britain's biggest cinema company, the Rank Organisation, decided to replace its newsreels with a series of short, quirky, topical documentaries that examined all aspects of life in Britain. During the 1960s - a decade that witnessed profound shifts across Britain's political, economic and cultural landscapes - many felt anxiety about the dizzying pace of change.
Look at Life reflected the increasing social and moral unease in films that tackled subjects ranging from contraception to immigration; from increasing stress at work to the preservation of the Sabbath; and from the environmental implications of waste management to the threat of nuclear weapons. Through these films, we can glimpse many of the seismic societal transformations of the Sixties developments that polarised the nation and changed life in Britain forever.

The resort is famous for the drunken antics of the British tourists who go there, but Stacey wants to find out what it's like for the thousands of Spanish workers who serve, police and clear up.
What starts out as a regular shift at a bar or cleaning hotel rooms often ends up with Stacey uncovering a darker side that only the workers and residents get to see. Working in a bar Stacey is not only surprised to learn how much free alcohol is on offer to young British tourists, but she's horrified when she witnesses the sexually explicit drinking games the drunk tourists are encouraged to play. When she spends a morning cleaning hotel rooms, not only does she learn about the vandalism and mess tourists leave behind, but she meets one member of staff who's been left traumatised after he saw a young girl fall to her death at the hotel earlier this year, leaving him constantly worried about the safety of inebriated guests. Stacey discovers that the high numbers of tourists who die or are badly injured every year is linked to heavy drinking.
But it's when Stacey rides along with an ambulance crew and a police patrol car over a busy weekend that she discovers things are really getting out of control in Magaluf. She hears how the emergency services have seen their worst year ever, cases of violent fights and rape are on the rise, women posing as prostitutes are ganging up on young, and often British, tourists and robbing them. Sadly this year, they've seen more deaths in the resort than ever before, mainly due to a craze called balconing.

Len Goodman takes to the dance floor to discover the golden age of ballroom, as the head judge of Strictly Come Dancing recalls the time when Britain went ballroom barmy.
In the early 20th century millions enjoyed dancing. Graceful movement was everything as we grappled with the waltz, the tango and each other. Len also reveals a surprising world of scandal and outrage - a time when ballroom was considered radical and trendy. What was it about ballroom that people enjoyed so much and why did we eventually turn our backs on what Len considers the greatest dance form of all?

Len visits Blackpool, the spiritual home of ballroom, and demonstrates some popular steps with professional dancer Erin Boag. He discovers how the smart set danced the night away at the Café de Paris and returns to a favourite dance hall from his youth, the Rivoli in south London.

Len talks to dancers, singers and musicians who remember the golden age and discovers the people who introduced 'rules' to ballroom - the dance leaders and teachers who were concerned that ballroom was out of control and needed new regulations to govern steps, movement and music.

Jason Mohammed presents live coverage of Italy v Ireland on the last day of the 2013 Six Nations.
The Italians will be hoping to finish the tournament in the manner they started, following an incredible win over France on the opening weekend. However, they will have to defy history if they are to beat Ireland - they have not beaten them in 13 previous Six Nations encounters, including a 42-10 loss last year.
For Ireland's players it will be a last chance to impress on the international stage before the British and Irish Lions squad is picked for the tour of Australia this summer. Commentary by Conor McNamara and Phillip Matthews, with expert analysis from Italian legend Marco Bortolami.

Six Nations Rugby Wales v England
BBC 1.  16:30 - 18:00

John Inverdale introduces live coverage from Cardiff as Wales take on old foes England on the final weekend of the 2013 Six Nations.
England ended a three-game losing streak in Cardiff when they won on their last Six Nations visit to the Millennium Stadium two years ago, but Wales were the victors in last year's clash when they triumphed 19-12 at Twickenham on their way to sealing the Grand Slam. Things did not go quite so well for the Welsh in the rest of 2012, but nothing stokes their fire quite like a visit from England, and a full-blooded encounter can always be expected.
Expert analysis comes from Sir Clive Woodward, Jeremy Guscott and Jonathan Davies, with commentary by Eddie Butler and Brian Moore.

Six Nations Rugby Scotland v Wales
BBC1.  14:00 - 16:25

Gabby Logan presents live coverage of the opening round four fixture of the 2013 Six Nations tournament. Scotland and Wales suffered demoralising defeats at the start of their respective campaigns, but both teams then hit back with impressive wins a week later. The visitors - the reigning Grand Slam champions - are slowly adjusting to being led by Rob Howley, while normal head coach Warren Gatland is busy putting his full focus on assembling a British and Irish Lions squad.
When the two nations met in Cardiff last year, Wales kept their nerve to carve out a ruthless 27-13 victory, as three tries in a devastating 14-minute spell early in the second half broke the resistance of Scotland, who had impressively gone in level at the break with three points apiece.
Commentary by Andrew Cotter and Jonathan Davies.

Six Nations Rugby Ireland v France
BBC1.  16:35 - 19:00

John Inverdale introduces live coverage from Dublin as Declan Kidney's Ireland host Philippe Saint-Andre's France.
Last year's Six Nations clash between the two nations was a hard-fought 17-17 draw in Paris, a rare stalemate after the initial match had to be postponed because of freezing sub-zero temperatures in the French capital. Ireland have not beaten France since February 2009, and that 31-20 victory is their only triumph against Les Bleus in 13 attempts.
Expert analysis comes from Jeremy Guscott and Keith Wood; commentary by Eddie Butler and Brian Moore.

When England went to Rome last year, they managed to eke out a narrow 19-15 win.
John Inverdale presents, with former England coach Sir Clive Woodward and former captain Lawrence Dallaglio on hand with expert analysis.

So fast and powerful, he became the first the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics, competing in the 400m and 4x400m relay.
But since that glorious summer, reports have emerged of a different side of Oscar Pistorius - involved in brawls and late night fracas. Observers note that when setting bail, the judge made it conditional that until he returns to court in June, Pistorius must not consume alcohol and will be randomly tested to ensure he complies.

How To Build A Bionic Man.
Channel 4.  21:00 - 22:00

From bionic arms and legs to artificial organs, science is beginning to catch up with science fiction in the race to replace body parts with man-made alternatives.
How to Build a Bionic Man follows psychologist Bertolt Meyer, who has a bionic hand himself, as he meets scientists working at the cutting edge of research to find out just how far this new technology can go.
Meanwhile, a team of roboticists create a complete 'bionic man' for the first time, using nearly $1 million-worth of state-of-the-art limbs and organs - the products of billions of dollars of research - borrowed from some of the world's leading laboratories and manufacturers.
The bionic man is being built by leading UK roboticists Richard Walker and Matthew Godden from Shadow Robot. Made with the support of the Wellcome Trust, it will be displayed at London's Science Museum from 7 February.
In the two centuries since Mary Shelley's Dr Frankenstein brought his 'monster' to life, the subject has fascinated science fiction in books, comics, film and TV.
From Star Wars' Darth Vader to Robocop, and from Dr Who's Cybermen to Blade Runner's replicants, most stories focus on the potentially dire consequences of 'playing God'.
Now, thanks to research on advanced prosthetic arms and legs, as well as artificial eyes, hearts and lungs - and even hybrids between computer chips and living brains - scientists can finally replace body parts and even improve on human abilities.
While Bertolt's search shows just how far science has come, it also asks questions about what it means to be human and where this technology could lead in the future.

Saturday 19th January.

Exit Through the Gift Shop
Channel 4.  01:15am - 02:40am.

The inside story of Street Art - a brutal and revealing account of what happens when fame, money and vandalism collide.
Exit Through the Gift Shop follows an eccentric shop-keeper turned amateur film-maker as he attempts to capture many of the world's most infamous vandals on camera, only to have a British stencil artist named Banksy turn the camcorder back on its owner with wildly unexpected results.
One of the most provocative films about art ever made, Exit Through the Gift Shop is a fascinating study of low-level criminality, comradeship and incompetence.
By turns shocking, hilarious and absurd, this is an enthralling modern-day fairytale... with bolt cutters.

Allotment Wars.
BBC 1.  22:35 - 23:30.

Dishing the dirt on the battles being fought on plots across the UK. Filmed over seven months, during the planting, growing and harvesting seasons, Allotment Wars shows what happens when strangers are thrust together on the land with too much time on their hands and too many sharp tools.
Plotholders often face attacks from outsiders. In Kent, following a series of break-ins, two brave gardeners hunt a suspect in the local woods. However in Devon, there is a civil war brewing between the plotholders themselves. Prize vegetables are being snatched and sheds ransacked, and it looks like an inside job. What can the site committee do to combat the saboteurs?
Nearly 100,000 Britons are on allotment waiting lists. This high demand means that the pressure to maintain plots is equally high. If allotmenteers fail, eviction looms. A young plotholder in Manchester struggles to avoid such a fate.
In Newcastle, two men fight for the title of Champion City Gardener. Regular participants in the fiercely competitive vegetable shows, these rivals have not spoken for years and tension mounts as they face each other at the annual City Allotment and Garden Show.

BBC 3.  19:00 - 20:00

A quest to reveal the worst England team of all time. Through a mix of archive footage and talking heads, including Neil 'Razor' Ruddock and Mark Lawrenson, the show is a light-hearted yet somewhat heated debate over who should win a place on the shamed team. No-one is safe, as the criteria are not just based on blunders on the pitch but also dodgy haircuts and misdemeanours that occurred in nightclubs and recording studios.

The Premier League's Most Amazing Moments.
BBC 3.  20:00 - 21:00

Robbie Savage and suave sportscaster Donovan Daily present a celebratory countdown of the most mindblowing incidents from the past 20 seasons of the Premier League. Hosted from Robbie's bling palace the show has it all from the spectacular to the unbelievable, but what's number one?

Hidcote:  A Garden For All Seasons
BBC 4.  19:00 - 20:00

Documentary telling the story of Hidcote - the most influential English garden of the 20th century - and Lawrence Johnston, the enigmatic genius behind it. Hidcote was the first garden ever taken on by the National Trust, who spent 3.5 million pounds in a major programme of restoration. This included researching Johnston's original vision, which in turn uncovered the compelling story of how Johnston created such an iconic garden.

Until recently, little was known about the secretive and self-taught Johnston. He kept few, if any, records on Hidcote's construction, but current head gardener Glyn Jones made it a personal mission to discover as much about the man as possible to reveal how, in the early 20th century, Johnston set about creating a garden that has inspired designers all over the world.

Inside Claridges 2/3
BBC 2.  21:00 - 22:00

Opened in 1854, Claridge's is famed for its Art Deco interiors and traditional service. Many staff, such as Roman the doorman, have worked there for over 30 years, giving guests continuity and the sense they might be living in different century.

The Crown Prince of Yugoslavia is a regular guest and he returns to stay in the suite where he was born in 1945. Joan Collins, Stephen Fry and the Emperor of Japan also come to visit, as well as 85 year-old Gerry Parker, an ex-East End bookmaker who has breakfasted at Claridge's for the last 40 years.

Given this weight of tradition and expectation, General Manager Thomas Kochs takes any change very seriously and no decision - from new alarm clocks to a £10 million renovation plan - escapes his obsessive attention to detail.
